FOR FIRST-YEARS · COMPUTER SCIENCE · PROGRAMMING I

Your first semester of programming, not on your own.

The lecture races ahead, the first problem set is already due, and everyone acts like they get it. We go through it with you 1:1 every week: fundamentals, problem sets, the exam. As fast or as slow as you need.

WHY FIRST-YEARS COME TO US

The first semester decides whether programming clicks.

Learn the fundamentals cleanly and early, and the whole degree gets easier. Miss them, and you drag the gaps all the way to your thesis. This is exactly where we start.

01

A pace that fits you

The lecture makes no allowances for anyone. We do. We go through a topic as slowly as you need, and as fast as you can.

02

Problem sets you solve yourself

We do not do your submissions for you. We get you to the point where you can solve them yourself, and that is exactly what counts in the exam.

03

Foundations, not memorising

Variables, loops, methods, then OOP. You understand why something works, not just that it compiles.

04

One fixed contact person

The same tutor every week, who knows where you stood last time. No rotating faces, no starting from scratch.

YOUR SEMESTER, IN FOUR PHASES

What a guided first semester looks like.

A rough plan from your first program to the exam. We adapt it to your university, your language, and your pace.

  1. Weeks 1 to 3
    Step 1
    Settling in

Set up the IDE, write your first program, take the fear out of syntax. Variables, data types, output.

  2. Weeks 4 to 7
    Step 2
    Locking in the basics

Conditions, loops, methods, arrays. The building blocks every assignment is made of.

  3. Weeks 8 to 11
    Step 3
    Getting OOP

Classes, objects, inheritance, interfaces. The part where most people drop off.

  4. Weeks 12 to 14
    Step 4
    Exam preparation

Work through past exams, practise code tracing, close the gaps, secure the points.

FROM THE FOUNDER

Why Study IT exists.

I built Study IT because I have seen first-hand how computer-science teaching at university falls apart.

Our tutors are working developers, not student side-jobbers.

FAQ

Common questions

I have never programmed before. Is it too late?
No. Most first-years start from zero. That is exactly what the first semester is for, and what we are built around. We start with the very basics and build up from there.
Which language do you teach?
Whatever your course uses. First semesters are most often Java, sometimes Python or C. All three are covered by our tutors, on your university's material.
How often should we meet?
For a first semester, once a week works well. It keeps you in step with the lecture and the problem sets without piling up. Before the exam, many add a few extra sessions.
Will you do my problem sets for me?
No. We work through them with you until you can solve them yourself. Handed-in answers you did not understand do not help you in the exam.
Does this run on Zoom?
No. We have our own browser platform, Classroom. No download, no third-party account. Click the link, get started.
What does it cost?
Single session 59.99 € for 60 min. With code ERSTIS26 your first hour is 47.99 €. The semester pack works out at around 50 € per hour. No subscriptions, no auto-charging.
